Day 1
Lunch included
Overnight in Los Angeles

The day starts with a private morning transfer from Los Angeles airport to our hotel in Beverly Hills. Then tour the special exhibition, “California Design 1930-1965,” at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA). LACMA is the largest museum in the western United States boasting a collection of over one hundred thousand works of art housed in seven buildings on a twenty acre campus in the heart of Los Angeles. A ten-year expansion and renovation program, designed by Renzo Piano, is currently underway at the museum. You'll also have time to experience the museum's amazing permanent collection. View masterpieces of Japanese art, Latino art (including those by Diego Rivera, Frida Kahlo and José Clemente Orozco), and Islamic art. Later, a walking tour of downtown Los Angeles with Amy Osaki and a special local expert features the many murals and public art installations in central Los Angeles. The day concludes with a visit to the Museum of Contemporary Art and The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA which are open until eight in the evening.

Day 2
Lunch included
Overnight in Los Angeles

Gain special early morning access to the Huntington Gardens for an exclusive private tour followed by an elegant tea. Then feast on one of the best collections of European art in the nation housed in the opulent mansion of one of the country’s most prominent early twentieth century millionaires. The huge exhibition centers on American art (housed in the newly expanded Virginia Steele Scott Galleries), and European art (housed in the Huntington Art Gallery). In addition there is the Huntington Library Exhibition Hall along with 120 acres of landscaped gardens that are part of the Huntington Botanical Gardens. Four special exhibitions are also scheduled during the time of our visit. Later, go behind the scenes at The Gamble House in Pasadena—the 1908 masterpiece of the American Arts and Crafts movement by Charles and Henry Greene. The adjacent neighborhood of Arroyo Terrace includes nine private Greene & Greene homes. This evening is at your leisure. You might consider a performance of the Los Angeles Philharmonic at Walt Disney concert hall.

At a special exhibition, Modern Antiquity, experience the modern art of Picasso and Leger juxtaposed with objects from the classical past. Enjoy a lovely lunch and then continue with a visit to the Getty Center which presents a collection of western art from the Middle Ages to the present. Enjoy the museum's stunning architecture and peaceful gardens and take in the special exhibition, Crosscurrents in L.A.: Painting and Sculpture 1950-1970.
